Reason why we procrastinate is due to the wiring network of our brain. The limbic system, which is one of the most dominant portions of our brain, controls our mood, instinct and other basic emotions. While the prefrontal cortex is a weaker portion of the brain, located right behind the forehead and where assimilation information and decision making takes place.
The prefrontal cortex doesn’t work automatically but it eventually compels us to complete a task. The limbic system will take over when we lose focus on a particular task leading to procrastination. The amygdala section of the brain is associated with our automatic emotional reaction to a situation. Procrastination can also be seen as the result of a battle between your present self and your future self.
